The band was started in 2010 in Knoxville, TN by Justin Powers. The group quickly found a passionate fanbase and toured throughout the southern states and midwest. In 2012 they released their first album "Take on the Silence" and performed at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. 2014 saw the release of their second album "Oceans" followed by "Wildlands" in 2016. They have shared the stage with Future Islands, Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars, Rubblebucket and Rusted Root. In 2015 Powers relocated to New Orleans where the band continues to play within the region. Currently they are working on a new EP and focusing on upcoming tours.
"Their music touches on a variety of sounds, but the songs are thoroughly original. This is music to make you groove."
“Whether it is their contagious beats, their sweet harmonies, or their feel good tunes, WUTK listeners love Marina Orchestra! The music sounds great on the radio, but it’s their live shows where the real magic happens. Another fantastic band that helps to make the Knoxville local music scene so very strong…and fun!”
